What Is a Parenting Coach?

Bright natural dining room nook with vases plates and fruits on the table.

It sure would be simpler if children came with operating manuals and step-by-step instructions for their care and development, but alas, we just get to take them home and pray we figure it out along the way. There are a lot of parenting books out there and that’s because raising a human can be a messy business - life is rarely a straight and simple path. The good news? A parenting coach brings a personal touch to this very personal endeavor.

As a parenting coach, I help families identify the tools and strategies that work best for them, in real time. It’s a short-term, i.e. quick to see the benefits, solutions focused approach in which we work together to recognize what triggers the stress and establish methods of diffusing the situation in a productive way that is sustainable.

I also help your family move from ideas to implementation. In other words, if what we talked about doesn’t work, or your child has a different reaction than anticipated, we can work together until we get the desired response. Think of me as your sounding board, the place to ask “what if” and “how can we.” No question is too big or too small. We will work together to build you a parenting tool box big enough to navigate whatever speed bumps lie on the road ahead.
